After the success of the 2006 and 2007 editions, both in terms of visibility and contacts established within the network of Italian and international filmmaking professionals, associations and other documentary film festivals, the 2008 edition aims to reconfirm its place in the world of documentary films, both Italian and international.
"Città del Sole" will this year be focusing on consolidating the festival's identity as a place for young filmmakers and technicians to meet to exchange and develop ideas and projects, while simultaneously seeking to attract and involve a wider public.
In this way the festival serves as a training tool for specialized professional in this field, for university students both of cinema and general cultural studies.
The festival revolves around two screening programs: Autori del Presente (Contemporary Authors), and Città del Sole
In particular, the seminar/screening program "Autori del Presente" provides a great opportunity for young people setting out to become filmmakers to meet with accomplished professionals and explore techniques of their trade and showcase their works to colleagues as well as to the general public.
The "Città del Sole" screening program, instead, provides a wider overview of the creative documentary scene.
Twelve documentaries will be presented by their directors, filmmakers whose work this past year has been noteworthy.
The festival is just one of the activities promoted by the Casa del Documentario , which aims to create in Sestino (AR) a major hub for the European network of documentary cinema.

A series of award-winning creative documentaries coming from international festivals, presented by their directors.
"Autori del Presente"
workshop- screening program
Public screening of works by the young filmmakers participating in the festival.
For the 2008 edition of the festival, these works will not only be shown, but also discussed and analyzed in the workshops.
Two additional workshops will be held, for a limited number of participants, offering an in-depth look at specific aspects of the production, scriptwriting and technology of documentary filmmaking.
